Press Release: SPI Automation Announces Merger

Sandy, UT, May 15, 2023 – Syscon Automation Group, Precision Automated Technology, and Industrial Controls Systems have announced their merger and formation of a single company, effective as of April 1, 2022. The merger will formally be known as SPI Automation, LLC, effective May 15, 2023, which will include a new look and branding going forward.

“We are excited to announce the merger and company name change to SPI Automation, LLC,” says Ryan Park, Director of Sales and Marketing at SPI Automation. “The merger has been exciting. As a machine builder and solution provider for nearly 29 years, adding the level of controls support that we have available as a resource to our customers has been a strong addition to our offering and has been received well by our customers. We can now offer support beyond our solution offerings.”

Tom Wright, President at Syscon Automation, added, “We have worked with Precision Automated Technology for twenty years as a partner and supplier. It made sense for us to merge and experience the synergies of having in-house mechanical design build mated to a full-service industrial control house with more than 15 engineers.”

The merger brings together Syscon Automation Group, which was founded in 2002 by Bob Bruce as a freelance controls engineer with the intention of solving manufacturing problems for local industries. Syscon Automation is made up of a small band of intrepid experts who each have their specialties and loyal customers. Over the years, Syscon Automation has grown a natural division of labor to tackle larger and more complex projects.

Precision Automated Technology, founded in 1994 by Pat Johnson, specializes in transforming complex and labor-intensive production tasks and processes into smoothly operating automated systems. Industrial Control Systems, founded in 2007, specializes in building UL508A and UL698 certified industrial control panels. ICS offers full turnkey engineering design/build and PLC programming solutions for electrical control panels and cabinets.

SPI Automation’s core values include observant listening skills, practical elegant design, resourceful creativity, and committed personal investment.
